The page for the question everyone actually has: where does my voice go?
What gets recorded
Your side of the mock interview — you talking. Plus the transcript of the session, and the scores we generate from it: clarity, concision, structure, confidence, vocabulary, and the biggest problem.
Nothing else. We don't record you outside a session, we don't listen between sessions, and there's no microphone access when you're not in one. Your browser asks for the mic each time and you can say no.
We never record a real interview. Question Proof does not join, listen to, or assist a live interview with an employer. Not as a copilot, not in a background tab, not in "stealth mode". That feature doesn't exist here.
Where your audio actually goes
This is the part most services are vague about, so here it is exactly.
- You start a session. Our server mints a short-lived ephemeral key — good for that one session, and nothing else.
- Your browser uses that key to open a direct WebRTC connection to OpenAI's Realtime API.
- Your live audio streams from your browser to OpenAI. It does not pass through our servers. We are not in the middle of the call. We couldn't listen live if we wanted to.
- Dana's replies come back the same way.
- The recording of your side is saved to Cloudflare R2. The transcript and the scores are saved to Cloudflare D1.
OpenAI processes the audio as our processor, under its Data Processing Addendum. OpenAI does not train its models on API data by default and we have not opted in. OpenAI may hold API inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deletes them.
Separately, our company research runs through OpenAI's Responses API with web search over public sources. That's about the company, not about you.
Who can hear it
You. That's the list.
Not employers. Not recruiters. Not the company you're practising for. Not advertisers. Not data brokers. We don't sell recordings, we don't license them, we don't put them in a demo reel, and we don't publish clips.
The only exception is the boring legal one: if a court or regulator legally compelled us, we'd have to comply, and we'd tell you unless we were forbidden from telling you. It has never happened.
Never used to train AI models
Your recordings, transcripts and scores are never used to train any AI model — not OpenAI's, not ours, not anybody's. We don't have a "help improve our AI" toggle buried in Settings, because we don't want the data.
No voiceprint
We don't build a voiceprint. We don't run speaker identification or voice authentication. We don't match your voice against other recordings, other users, or your own past sessions. The audio is transcribed and the transcript is scored on how you speak, not on who you are.
That's why your recordings aren't biometric data in the legal sense: under the GDPR, voice becomes biometric data only when it's put through specific technical processing to uniquely identify or authenticate a person. We never do that step.
Recording consent
You're recording yourself. There's no other person on the call — Dana is an AI, not a human participant, and nobody is sitting in. About eleven US states, California and Florida and Washington and Pennsylvania among them, require every party to a conversation to consent before it can be recorded. Here the only party is you, and you consent when you start the session.
What those rules are really aimed at is an undisclosed listener. So here is the full list of who touches your audio: you, and OpenAI, which processes it to make Dana work. That's it. We tell you before every session that you're being recorded, that Dana is an AI, and that OpenAI is in the path. Plenty of products hide that third fact. We don't.
If you practise somewhere another person can be heard, sorting that out with them is on you.
How long it's kept
Recordings and transcripts are deleted 30 days after the interview date you gave us. Automatic. You don't have to remember, ask, or click anything.
Ask sooner and they go immediately — same day.
Scorecards and your account row (email, purchase reference, access window) stay until you delete everything.
Export and delete
Both are one tap in Settings.
- Export gives you your recordings, transcripts and scorecards in a form you can keep.
- Delete everything removes your recordings, transcripts, scores and account data from our storage. It's irreversible. Export first if you want to keep anything.
Prefer email? legal@questionproof.com. Usually the same day, within 30 days at the outside, free.
Paddle keeps its own transaction and tax records under its own policy. We can't delete those; tax law requires them.
If something goes wrong
If there's a security breach that puts your rights at risk, we'll tell you and the relevant regulator without undue delay, and we'll say what happened rather than issuing a statement about how seriously we take security.
Questions about any of this: legal@questionproof.com.
